About

The tournament born from an idea that couldn't wait

The Día de Muertos Classic wasn't born in a boardroom or from a sponsor. It was born from a conversation between people who love hockey and believed amateur players deserve more than a scoreboard. They deserve a stage. They deserve a purpose.

Over two years, the idea took shape: a tournament that wouldn't just measure skill on the ice, but honor the people who shaped those who play. An event where competition is the vehicle, not the destination.

MISSION

To create the most culturally meaningful amateur hockey tournament in Latin America. A space where sport and Mexican identity coexist at the highest level.

VISION

To become a legacy. A tournament future generations will know not only for its champions, but for what it represents: memory, community, and legacy.

WHY DÍA DE MUERTOS?

Día de Muertos is not a celebration of death. It is a celebration of the life that was lived. It is remembering that every person who is no longer here left a mark, a name, a story that deserves to be spoken out loud.

At the DMC, that philosophy becomes action. Every team dedicates its tournament to someone. Every game begins with a name. Every photo on the altar is a reminder that we play for something bigger than ourselves.

"Death is only a symptom that there was life."

THE THREE CULTURAL RITUALS

La Ofrenda Colectiva — The Collective Offering

Every team dedicates the tournament to someone. Upon registration, they submit a photo of the person to whom they dedicate their participation. Before the first game, a collective altar is built with all the photographs. It is not decoration. It is the heart of the tournament.

La Dedicatoria — The Dedication

Thirty seconds before every game, the name of the person to whom that team dedicates the tournament is announced on the ice. The game begins with a name. Always.

El Momento de los Aplausos — The Moment of Applause

Before the closing ceremony, every photograph on the altar is projected on screen and every name is spoken out loud during the minute of applause. No champion has left without hearing that moment. No player walks away the same.

VALUES

Cultural Identity — We are Mexican first. Then we are hockey.
Community — The tournament exists because the people who make it possible exist.
Competition — The ice is the stage. Excellence is the expectation.
